Frederick Morton McQuade, age 95, of Jefferson City, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 18, 2019. Born August 21, 1924, in Duluth, Minnesota, to Morton Gilbert (Ted) McQuade and Katherine Hall (Kitty) McQuade, Fred lived in a number of places including New Orleans, LA and Portland, OR but he spent the last forty three years in Tennessee. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Catherine Maier (KT) McQuade, to whom he was married for over fifty years; Marcel McQuade, his son; his parents; and, his sister, Marjorie McQuade Cuquett.
Fred is survived by his sons: Ted McQuade, Todd McQuade, Daniel McQuade, Carleton McQuade and Paul McQuade; his grandchildren Micky McQuade, Michael McQuade, and Laura McQuade; and, four great-grandchildren. He and KT also took in a number of children from broken families over the years.
Fred served in the Army in the Phillipines in World War II and then worked in the automotive industry as a parts and service manager for many years. He was an expert Jaguar mechanic and raced Jags in the 1950s and 1960s. Known as the “Pencil Pusher” for the beautiful pens and pencils he turned from exotic woods, he was an excellent woodworker and made all types of cabinetry. He and KT loved dogs and raised and showed Great Danes. In their later years, they raised milk goats.
A private service will be held at a later date.
