Gail Marie Phillips

February 27, 1953 ~ November 6, 2019 (age 66)


Gail Marie Phillips, age 66 of Helenwood, passed away on Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.


Mrs. Phillips was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church. For more than twenty years, she worked at Fireside Restaurant and made many wonderful friends.


She was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Barrett & Patricia Whipkey; stepmother Helen Barrett; and son-in-law Jamie Watson.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by her husband of 42 years, Kenny Phillips; one son, Jimmy Matelski and wife Stacey of Florida; two daughters, Colleen Watson and Heather Phillips, both of Helenwood; two grandsons, Tristen Kimla and Logan Watson of Helenwood; one granddaughter, Cassie Matelski, of Florida; two sisters, Barb Ryan and husband Mike of Cleveland, Ohio; Karen Belcastro of Florida; two brothers, Brian Barrett of Helenwood; Kevin Barrett and wife Alice of Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law Nelma Norman of Oneida; brother-in-law Carl Phillips and wife Jane of Helenwood; several nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.


Special friends include Kay and Mick Nevell of Indiana; Bill and Ella Smith of Elgin; the ladies from Fireside Restaurant; Peggy and Bill Malumphy of Ohio; Abigail Suddath of Harriman; Evelyn Brumett of Helenwood; and Libby Smith of Huntsville.

Special thanks to Sister Pat Soete; Dr. Tim Smith and the staff at Grace Primary Care; and Dr. Gary Wells and the staff at Fresenius Kidney Care.


Mrs. Phillips’ wishes were cremation. A private memorial service will be held at a later time.
