James Marion Ross (né Bazell), age 78 of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at the Serenity House. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Morristown, an Eagle Scout, and a 50 year member of the Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite. James retired as an Assistant Chief after devoting 30 years to the Cincinnati Fire Dept. He was an avid amateur photographer. Mr. Ross spent 5 years in the Army National Guard and 2 years in the Air Force Reserves. He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Ross; step-father, Eugene Ross; sister, Carol Donna Fields; brother, Samuel Cecil Ross.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Barbara Ross; children, Joyce Ross (Richard Von Nida), David (Hope) Ross, Daniel (Tracy) Ross; grandchildren, Adrian Merritt, Rachel Merritt, David Michael Ross, James Ross, Faith Ross, Grace Ross, Caleb Ross, Ana Ross, Sierra Ross, Todd Ross, Ben Ross,; great-granddaughter, Akiha Ross; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to everyone at UT Therapy, Avalon Hospice, the Serenity House, and caregiver – Shelly Frazier.

The family will receive friends Friday, September 27, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Alder Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Danny Georges officiating. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.
