Sawyer Everleigh Ayers

April 14, 2014 ~ August 6, 2018 (age 4)
On August 6, 2018 Sawyer Everleigh Ayers won her battle here on earth and joined the band of angels in heaven. She was comforted in her passing by her parents, Daniel Ayers and Stephanie Sawyer Ayers. Sawyer's memory will be carried on by her parents, Daniel and Stephanie; maternal grandparents, Charles and Carol Sawyer; paternal grandparents, Lynn and Karen Ayers; sister, Haylie Ayers; brother, Welles Ayers; uncle, Charlie Sawyer; aunt, Amy Tweed; cousins, Tori and Bryson Tweed and Bentley and Talon Sawyer; special friends Allyssa and Spencer Alder; and a multitude of very special family and friends. Sawyer fought her battle against cancer at East Tennessee Children's Hospital. She spent most of her time on the second floor where her doctors and nurses became her extended family. The doctors and nurses of the Pediatric ICU helped her continue to fight and kept her comfortable during her final days.
Sawyer was a vibrant four year old and brought joy not only to those she met, but also to those she never met. Sawyer touched the lives of her family, friends and thousands of strangers in her last year of life. Times spent painting her nails and playing with her ponies were among her favorite times regardless of who her playmate was. Her light shined through in all of her actions. To know Sawyer was to know the meaning of bold, determined, clever, a smile on her face no matter what challenges she was facing, and spirited but most of all lovable. She was a child with a servant's heart, spirit of a warrior, and loved Jesus. She looked forward to the times when her pastors would come to pray with her, and so we take comfort in knowing that mercy endures and she is healed in the arms of Jesus.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Matthew 19:14
The family will receive friends 3:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Manley Baptist Church and the funeral services to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Tony Buchanan and Alan Duncan officiating. Family and friends will gather Sunday, August 12, 2018 at St. Paul Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service.
